Learning to enjoy the little things

Even when we have weeks that that can be stressful and take everything you have, i find that there can be a lesson in even the smallest things in life. On my day off on Wednesday I had the lesson about enjoying the little things in life shown to me many times. 

First thing in the morning I got up at 5:30 in the morning to go to the gym with Garrick. At first I was really dreading getting up and going. I drug around the house. But when I got there and weighed myself I discovered that I had lost 5 pounds! I was so happy when i saw the scale go down. The scale doesn’t control my life but it was so nice to see progress toward my goal. This made me want to work harder. Not bad for an early workout.

After we got back I showered and got back in my PJ’s Garrick decided he wanted to make breakfast. this is what he made, scrambled eggs with peppers, spinach, and cheese. His is the pic with sausage and I had turkey bacon. After breakfast I went back to bed for about an hour and a half. (terrible I know) after my nap Garrick and I cleaned the house. It took us a while to get everything finished. By the time we finished we were hungry so we decided to make a salad,

It was really good and came out of my bowel of salad that i prepare for the week. (weekly preparation) 

After lunch we decided to go visit with Garrick’s parents. When arrived  we saw a rainbow. It had been raining most of the day so rain stopping was a pretty big deal

When the rain finally passed the sun came out and it was looking very nice outside and we decided to go swimming. 

We spent the rest of the evening swimming and spending time with his family. All in all it was  great day off. It didn’t seem like anything this day was particularly different or amazing but it made me realize how important things like family and fun times are. We don’t do them as often as we should. This is a new goal for me, To appreciate all of the little things. I don’t want to take things for granted anymore. Little things like spending time with family and morning workouts with just Garrick and I. These things mean so much so i need to learn to take them in while I can still enjoy them.
